Our Story
Born from the Wild
PrehistoriK is an independent magazine for those who feel the pull of something older — a world before screens, before cities, before the forgetting.
Our Mission
Remembering What We Are
We believe the modern world has severed something essential. The rhythms of nature, the wisdom of ancestors, the language of fire and stone — these are not relics. They are instructions.
PrehistoriK exists to recover that signal. Through long-form journalism, ancestral science, and the stories of those who live close to the land, we map the territory between who we have become and who we have always been.
We are not nostalgic. We are curious. The past is not a destination — it is a compass.
"The past is not a destination — it is a compass."
01
Depth over speed
We publish slowly and deliberately. Every story earns its place.
02
Evidence and intuition
We honour both the rigour of science and the intelligence of lived experience.
03
The long view
We measure time in millennia, not news cycles.
04
Radical presence
We write for readers who want to be more awake, not more informed.
The Contributors
Voices from the Field
Our writers are not observers. They are practitioners — guides, naturalists, archaeologists, and rewilders who write from direct experience.
Senior Writer
Mara Solstice
Wilderness guide and writer. Two decades living close to the land. She writes about the intersection of ecology, myth, and the human body as a wild organism.
Contributing Writer
Elan Ashwood
Rewilding practitioner and former anthropologist. His work explores ancestral movement, fire-making, and the deep patterns encoded in ancient ritual.
Wildlife Correspondent
Sable Voss
Naturalist and photographer whose lens captures the untamed world. She believes every animal encounter is a mirror held up to our own forgotten nature.
